Titel - PUVREPRO: Blaas- en nierfunctie bij kinderen met posterieure urethrakleppen en hun huidige kwaliteit van leven; een gecombineerde retrospectieve en prospectieve multicenter cohortstudie.

Achtergrond
Posterior urethral valves (PUV) cause congenital obstruction of the male urethra and are the most common surgical cause of chronic kidney disease in children requiring renal replacement therapy despite early successful fulguration of the valves (1). Retrospective cohorts show around 31% of children with PUV develop CKD later in life vs. <1% in the general population (2).
Bladder dysfunction is a frequent and persistent problem in patients with PUV even after early fulguration and contributes to persisting lower urinary tract symptoms and is a potential predicting factor for upper tract damage and chronic kidney dysfunction (CKD) (3-5). In addition, nadir serum creatinine has been identified as a robust prognostic factor for long-term renal outcomes, with higher nadir levels associated with an increased risk of CKD (6). However, despite the known clinical risk factors, data on long-term bladder and renal outcomes remain predominantly retrospective, and the relationship between these outcomes and patients' current clinical status and health-related quality of life (QoL) is poorly understood.
This study therefore combines a retrospective assessment of bladder and renal function with a prospective evaluation of current symptoms, clinical status, and QoL in patients treated for PUV at the participating centers.

Doel van het onderzoek
This study aims to retrospectively assess bladder function, kidney function, and other relevant clinical factors in patients treated for PUV, and to prospectively evaluate their relationship with current clinical status and health-related quality of life.

• In hoeverre heeft blaasdysfunctie impact op de ervaren kwaliteit van leven?
• Is er een relatie tussen blaasdysfunctie op een VUDO en de SWRD score? 
• Is er een relatie tussen het aantal doorgemaakte urineweg infecties en lange termijn nierfunctie?
